My wife found this place while searching for places where “Guy had been” to meet her sister’s family – and boy was it ever a gem! We had 10 in our group, so it was very difficult for them to arrange tables to accept our group inside – so we agreed to sit outside on the picnic tables. It was a bit chilly, but we made due given the circumstances.

Beyond the historic brick building and great smokey smell as you walk up, their in-house craft beer and mocktail lists were impressive. We started with a round of their craft beers and since I always like to try multiple different beers, I went with a Flight (see picture). I was impressed with their craft beers as usually there are multiple that you wouldn’t order again – but I found all except 1 to rate on the high end of my Untappd rating scale.

My only disappointment was that the picnic table tops were extremely uneven – which caused all of the beers in the flight to tip over onto my son when I slid them across the table in their rack. A server came out to clean up and said that he usually warns people about that when they order…but no offer of even a discount on the refills.

On to the best part of our visit – the food! We started with Smoked Wings (see picture) and were delighted with the flavor, tenderness and moistness of the chicken. For our main courses, we ordered the Reuben, 18 Hour Porketta and Smokestack sandwich – all with a side of fries (see pictures of each). My wife and I shared the Smokestack and as the cut-away picture shows, it is one large stack of different delicious smoked meats!

As we usually do, we all shared samples from each dish and all of us really enjoyed all of them. Beyond the obvious and delicious smoked meats, I really enjoyed the home cut fries. As the pictures show, they had a good brown color on the outside, the seasoning was perfect and the ranch sauce was a great consistency for dipping!

Exceptional smoked meats, scrumptious fries, and an extensive variety of quality in-house brewed beers make this a must-visit destination.

Saw this place on the way home from an evening on Canton St., so decided to have the hotel shuttle drop us off here to start the next night’s activities. The curb appeal is amazing and the interior decor is impressive (see pictures). They had a reasonable selection of in-house craft beers on tap – from porters to IPAs and sours. We really enjoyed our stop and recommend this place to sample their craft beers.

Beautiful inside and out, good craft beer selection and just a couple of block walk from the Canton Street area!

We just got into town the night before and were looking for some place to go on Sunday afternoon when we saw this place near where we went to an afternoon Mass. While there wasn’t anything that really stood out on the exterior, once we stepped inside we were impressed with the modern decor and welcoming environment (see pictures). Then, after stepping outside on the patio with our beers and seeing the beautiful pond, we were even more impressed.

We were looking for samples of some local craft beers and something light to eat to cover us until dinner time. Patent 139 covered us very well in both areas, and the Smoked Avocado Feta Dip appetizer that we ordered (see picture) left us very impressed! We both absolutely loved it so much that we were tempted to place a 2nd order. It was so fresh, flavorful and delicious…not to mention how great it looked when it was served. Oh, and lest I forget, the beer samples were quite good also!

Stopped here for some local craft beer while waiting for our dinner reservations at the nearby Wildfire restaurant…see my next review. It was a Friday night and the place was packed with a lively crowd, as you might expect. One of the items that was unique was the in-house food truck (see picture) – food is ordered and served from what looks like a food truck inside the restaurant.

There was a reasonable selection of in-house craft tap beers, so I opted for a flight (see picture) so that I could taste several. The area at the bar where you order and pick up your beer was a bit crowded and in a dead-end hallway, so you have to fight the crowd to get back out.

A solid brew pub with a good selection of in-house beers on tap and a lively atmosphere.

We were staying downtown along the canal and this place was near the bus stop where we got off to walk to the place we were staying…so of course we had to stop for a flight to sample their beers.

It was right at closing time, but the owner and server were gracious enough to pour us a flight (see picture of mine). I found each of the beers in the flight to be above average to my tasting, so will definitely return to try some more on a future trip. They also offered a Sunday morning brunch which sounded very interesting, but we decided to get to the Colts game early, so didn’t have a chance to try it on this trip.

While the tap list is relatively short (see picture), each of the beers they offer are unique – full of character and great flavor.

My son and I were in town for a Colts football game and thought this place looked interesting while walking around downtown looking for a place to eat. It was very busy, so we put our name on the list, went to have a beer at a nearby brewery (Goodwood Indy – see previous post) and were texted that our table was ready about an hour later.

We each ordered a flight (see pictures) to get started and I was honestly a little underwhelmed with the House Six Pack (inhouse options). For my palate, the beers were all too light and bland – coming across as watery, with little body or character. They were actually my least favorite of a number of new beers that we sampled downtown that evening (didn’t have to drive, so enjoyed a few beers). I wish I had ordered my own and would have chosen some of the heavier / more unique beers, as I assume this flight was set up for more of a mass market preference.

For our meals, my son ordered the 3 Taco Combo (see picture) and I ordered the Sesame Crusted Ahi (see picture). We shared bites with each other and both of us thought both plates were delicious – we would highly recommend both! The salmon was prepared well and the crusted sesame coat was a nice complement to the soft inner flesh. The tacos were seasoned well, moist and tasty! As the pictures show, the portions weren’t that large, but that was exactly the right size for me.

A good selection of quality inhouse craft beers at a reasonable price in downtown Indianapolis.

I was visiting Indianapolis for a football game with my son and we had an extensive wait for our table at YardHouse (see next review), so we stopped here to try some craft beers. There was a wait for a host/hostess and although the place was quite crowded, we were able to find 2 chairs at the bar, so took them since we only planned to have beer.

Both of us were impressed with the available beer options (see beer menu picture). Both of us ordered a flight so we had the opportunity to sample 4 different beers and we each rated all 4 of them above average in Untappd. If we hadn’t already put our name on the list at another restaurant, we would have probably eaten here – so we can look forward to trying the food on a future trip.

I’ve been here a few times on business trips but just finally posting some pictures along with my review. I’ve enjoyed sampling different beers on each visit and have also had food on at least one other occasion.

Our table started with Hangry Sprouts, Curb Your Enthusiasm cheese curds and Zeit Bites (pretzel bread bites) – all of which were above average bar food (sorry, no pictures of them). For my meal, I ordered the Carolina Burger (see picture) with Sweet Potato Fries. While it was above average overall (especially the fries), I found the pulled pork on the burger to be quite dry. Another person at the table ordered the Lobster Mac & Cheese (see picture) and thought it tasted good – had just hoped there would be more lobster in it.

If you are stopping by to try their beers, this is definitely a great stop and if you decide to add food to your stop, you can expect better than average appetizers and entrees.

This is my wife’s favorite brewery in town and we’ve been here a number of times, but finally getting around to writing a review. On this trip, it was a stop at the end of the Lemon Trail Ride, as the cold, wind and rain caused us to cut the ride a little short.

We started with an order of Exile Fries (see picture) as we have always enjoyed them on previous visits – and today was no exception, crispy and so flavorful! We also shared a Spinach & Artichoke Dip (see picture) and it to, was delicious and highly recommended!

For our meals, we ordered the Exile Burger w/ Truffle Fries (see picture) and Sweet Chili Shrimp Tacos w/Brussels Sprouts (see picture). As we always do, we shared tastes of each dish and both thought that everything was delicious. They have very good Brussels Sprouts here that we often order as an appetizer, but given the other appetizers today, we enjoyed them as a side instead – definitely try these if you haven’t already.

Stopped here with friends on the way home after visiting the Santa Cruz beach area. The area was bustling with activity and was set up to give an almost small town vibe – with other shops, restaurants and food trucks making it a great place to stop and spend some time.

After going up the stairs and inside, you order your beers at the counter and then find a place to sit either inside or at a number of tables in the shade next to the building (see picture). It was a fairly busy time when we arrived and was a bit hectic to find the counter and order our beers – but the beers (see flight picture) all tasted very good.

Definitely worth a stop for a drink and bite to eat on your way home from the beach.

We have stopped here for food on a couple of occasions and have found it to be an above average pub food location with an interesting historical atmosphere. Today, we stopped by to try out their Happy Hour that we found on www.happyhourdesmoines.com and enjoyed our stop as well as the service and interactions with our server, Brent – who was fantastic! Brent went out of his way to give us great service, including bringing sample tastes of their local brews without even being asked – to encourage them over the Busch Lights that our guests ordered.

I always try to stop at a brewery in a city we are visiting so couldn’t pass up the opportunity to check out the Roundhouse and was glad that we stopped. We were surprised at how many cars were in the parking lot and were impressed with the additional activities (such as axe throwing) that they advertised.

The building and interior were modern and clean and the service was friendly and quick. The beer selection was good (around 20 on tap) and my wife and I shared a 6 sample beer Flight. We found most of the beers to be well above average and rated them all in Untappd.

Definitely worth a stop if you are in the Nisswa / Gull Lake area.

Stopped here to meet a friend after work this week and was impressed with the beers and the atmosphere. If that isn’t enough to capture your attention, they also have an attached arcade area with lots of fun entertainment.

The beer selection is good, it is served cold – and if you like sampling different beers, their beer Flight is a pretty good value (5 samples for $9). This place is definitely worth a stop after work or for a casual stop out before or after dinner. The have a pretty good selection of ‘Bytes’…so will have to try the food during a future stop.

We stopped here during our visit based on our neighbor’s recommendation and really enjoyed the stop.  The drinks were the best we had during our stay (see pictures) – I had the Salted Caramel Martini and my wife had the Bloody Mary.

The drinks, presentation and delivery were all top notch.  The atmosphere was also great, but was a bit cluttered, with boxes of wine and other items littering the floor.  The prices were some of the highest that we experienced during our stay…but again the quality and taste was great!  You won’t regret stopping here for a wine or cocktail.
